Earth Day Remix

We want to hear your students’ Earth Day remixes! And your classroom could win cool prizes from TeachRock and our environmental education partner Leaving A Positive Legacy just for sharing them!

Here’s the scoop:

The TeachRock lesson Greta Thunberg, Music, and the Climate Crisis asks students to consider how musicians helped spread climate activist Greta Thunberg’s message.

Students read or listen to Thunberg’s 2019 U.N. speech, and then check out three recordings that have used Thunberg’s speech in some way. They then meet a host of young activists such as Isra Hirsi, Xiye Bastida, Kevin J. Patel, Quannah Chasinghorse, Alexandria Villaseñor and others, and are asked to respond with their own remix.

We want to see and hear your students’ remixes made with the unifying theme of protecting our planet!

Students and teachers can submit student music or visual art projects that sample, remix, or use a famous speech made in support of our planet. For select participating classrooms, prizes are available!

Details:

  • Submissions must be sent to submissions@teachrock.org and received by May 13, 2022
  • Submissions may become part of TeachRock Earth Day remix montage that will be shared with all registered TeachRockers!
  • Be creative. We’re interested in remixes broadly speaking–have an idea or want to explore a format that isn’t represented here? Awesome! Go for it.
  • Prizes will be announced by May 24th, and all entries will be acknowledged in some way
