In early 2018, the Rock and Roll Forever Foundation partnered with New Jersey School Boards Association to develop the first-ever TeachRock Hometown Documentaries Student Film Festival. High schoolers from across the state were tasked with investigating the local histories of their respective towns and telling these stories in the documentary format, with music serving as the cornerstone to each story. 

This ambitious project, which limited participating students to complete their research, film, and edit their projects in just six months time, was embraced by enthusiastic young filmmakers from across the state, resulting in a competition which featured nearly a dozen films. 

After deliberation by an internal panel of judges, it was decided rather fittingly that the standout from this competition hosted in Atlantic City was a group of students who call the place home. Elijah Terrence, Bertie Moses, Jeremiah Watson-Sheperd, and Nafi Hinson, under the guidance of instructors David Roehm and Jason Gates, and alumni and mentor Matthew Verderose, produced a thoughtful, visually stunning, meticulously produced, and ultimately compelling portrait of their hometown. 

Atlantic City – Songs of Stories Untold is an extraordinary glimpse into the musical history of Atlantic City and the young men responsible for making it should be proud of their effort. 

The Rock and Roll Forever Foundation and New Jersey School Boards Association are pleased to announce that Elijah, Nafi, Bertie, and Jeremiah have been awarded Best in Show at the 2018 Hometown Documentaries Student Film Festival.

As part of this distinction, RRFF, on behalf of David Rubin of Global Road Entertainment, is donating an array of film equipment for the Chartertech film class, including a new iMac, camera, microphones, light kit and other accessories.
