Following its successful 18 month run in theaters and at festivals, Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked The World became part of the PBS Independent Lens series on January 21st, 2019. Independent Lens celebrated the launch with a red carpet event and panel discussion of the film at the Ace Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles on January 15th.

 

TeachRock launched the Rumble Curriculum in November 2017, and has since workshopped and paneled the content at conferences such as SXSW, the National Indian Education Association, and many others, often alongside Rumble producer Stevie Salas and Director of the California Indian Culture and Sovereignty Center Dr. Joely Proudfit.

 

Despite the rare wet L.A. night, the Ace Hotel event was packed. Salas, Proudfit, and Carbone were joined by Wayne Kramer, the activist and guitarist most known for his work with seminal punk band MC5, and actor Edward James Olmos. The discussion was lively, and at times both provocative and comedic. Following the panel, Redbone’s Pat Vegas, who features prominently in the film, performed alongside his son P.J.
